Chapter 11
Novak - One month later
Davis is a slippery bastard, coming out long enough to fuck something up before hiding again. I guess not having Willow as a target any longer pissed him off. Over this last month, Iâve been living a dream, never thinking I could be this happy. Willow makes domestic life amazing.
Lawson, Cleo, Quinn, and Molly all stopped by, and of course, they fell in love with Willow. The women became instant best friends and now text nonstop every day. The guys were happy I finally got the stick out of my ass to make a move.
We talked business, which included Davis, and he could be planning. Foster, who is due any day now, has been a big help. Funny thing is, we spent the last few years trying to get him on our side, and now that he is weâve seen how valuable he is as a business partner and friend. If I wouldâve known this back then, I wouldâve moved heaven and earth to make it happen sooner. As a group, weâve expanded some of our businesses to include other Crime Kings in Chicago, New York, and Dallas.
Iâm getting tired of waiting for Davis to show again. Iâd much rather find and kill him quickly.
âBoss?â Luke asks, jerking me out of my trance. âEverythingâs secure with the new shipment.â
âGreat. Let's head home.â We walk out of the warehouse, and head to the waiting SUV and drive toward the house. As Luke is texting, I notice he has something on his hands.
âPaint?â
He looks down and laughs, âYeah. Willow gave me a lesson the other day.â
I should be jealous, but he sees her as a sister and I know I can trust him with her.
âAre you any good?â I ask, holding back a smile.
âGod no, I just enjoy spending time with her,â he says, returning it. Luke had a younger sister but she died when she was eighteen. I believe he sees a lot of her in Willow. âI think Uncle Luke has a nice ring to it, donât you agree?â Luke asks as he jabs me in the side with his elbow.
With a smirk I say, âTrust me man, I'm working on it.â Weâve had so much sex since that first time, and not once did we use protection. That was by design, of course, because I've been trying my damnedest to knock her up. I know we should talk about it, but I have this horrible fear one day sheâll wake up and realize what a monster I am and leave me. If we have a child, sheâd be less likely to do, so right? I know thatâs barbaric, a little fucked up too, but I really can't bring myself to give a shit at this point.
âI have all the men geared up and ready for an attack, so as soon as you and Foster have a lock on Davisâ location, we can move out,â Luke tells me.
âGood. Hopefully its sooner rather than later. Iâm done walking on eggshells,â I grumble to him.
